Choose Tacky Sublimation Transfer Paper Can Avoid Sublimation Ghosting? Is It True?

When we are in the process of sublimation printing , there will always be sublimation ghosting. Can we solve this problem with tacky sublimation transfer paper?

1.What is sticky sublimation paper? 

Sticky sublimation transfer paper is one type of sublimation paper, the difference is that it has a tacky field coating. The tacky field coating will be activated by heating. After the tacky field coating is activated, it will adhere to the fabric very firmly, so after the transfer is completed, when you lift up the pressure, the paper will still adhere to the fabric firmly, which can prevent the paper and textile from moving, ghost will not happen.
Sticky sublimation transfer paper is mainly used for tensile materials, such as lycra, tensile materials are elastic, easier to move in the transfer process. But even if you use elastic material, it doesn't mean you still need tacky sublimation paper, depending on the heat press machine.

2.What is sublimation ghosting?

For example, if you want to print an image that contains two characters. You carefully print the image onto transfer paper and attach it to the frame. After that, you need to press the frame for a while. After the frame is removed from the heat transfer machine, the paper needs to be lifted to show the sublimed surface, but unfortunately the paper falls on the sublimed surface. When you move the paper again, you see the shadow behind the text. This is called ghosting in sublimation.

Although the panel is very hot under hot press, the transfer paper shifts slightly resulting in a repeat, called a ghost image left behind the original image. Ghosting can completely ruin the work, especially if the text is dark on a white background.

3.Where does the ghost come from? There are three main ways:

(1). You can print things like tiles, dye sublimation paper and slightly hang over objects. When pressed, depending on how you press the item, the ink from the overhang will be transferred to the upper or lower platen. Now you put a shirt or whatever under the press, and it comes into contact with the ink transferred from the previous press, and it will be ghost printed onto the new project.
(2). Place the dye sublimation paper on the preheated item. Once the sublimation transfer paper from the preheated items become hot, it began to transfer. If you put the hot sublimation paper down and move it around to adjust its position, it will be ghosted.
(3). The third cause of ghost is that the lifting pressure is too fast and the image drops. When we raise the pressure machine, it creates some tacky, and then it puts the image back in place, and when that happens, it moves the medium, causing the ink to move to another area.
The first two are easily solved by placing a teflon paper during the transfer, or by preheating your T-shirt and waiting for the shirt to cool before starting the transfer process. But the third problem is not easy to solve. So many customers switch to tacky Sublimation Paper.Lead to double the third reason is that you raise pressure, paper and textile products will rise by hot pressing (electrostatic effect), so if you will pressure increase too fast, it will produce some vacuum, then drop image returned, when this happens, it will move medium, cause the ink is transferred to another area.

One thing you can notice from the above is that ghosting occurs when you use a flat hot press. Only in the flatbed heat press machine, you must lift the press by yourself or automatically. Therefore, when you use the roller heat press machine, there is no need to use sticky sublimation paper.

Therefore, choose tacky sublimation paper can avoid sublimation ghosting that is only one of the situations in which ghosting occurs. The specific situation needs to be analyzed.
